At the turn of this century Theo Mahood worked on several wall murals at Echo Valley Ranch & Spa, the largest of which covers the space under the eve of the roof at the north end of the Look-out lodge. The mural is made of cedar drift wood and enhanced with natural dyes; it is an incredibly impressive work of art as well as being a well engineered placement of multiple pieces of wood. The mural has been in place for nine years now with no sign of deterioration.
Now comes the fun part. Theo Mahood is of Welsh and Native parentage and it is clear from Theo’s artwork that his Native blood line has prevailed. When asked about the meaning of the mural his response was: “Look at the bottom right hand corner and you will see a Shaman, the Shaman is creating mother earth and has not quite finished yet and that is why you will have trouble seeing what it is”. Yes, Theo has a great sense of humour and most have no trouble at all-seeing what he had created when viewing it from a goodly distance away – see if you can describe it when you look at the pictures that follow; then see if you can find the forty two (42) birds that Theo claims to be hidden in the mural.

An amazing work of art. How long did it take to complete?
It took Theo several months and if we had not speeded up the process he would probably still be at EVR – he liked it there :0)
Hallo! Momentarely I am helping my brother to find out the contact to Thea Mahood. My brother learns the profession of a sculpture in Austria. In his summer holidays he wants to go to Canada and he wants to learn about the native work of art.
